Seasonal Tips

TIP 1:

SEASONAL CLEAN_UPS

There are many details to consider in keeping your lawn and landscape in top condition. Seasonal Clean-Ups scheduled throughout the year, for example, are especially important if you want your property to look its best. Tidying up your lawn and landscape two or three times a year can help improve the health of your plantings too. At the very least, leaves and other debris should be cleared from all lawn and bed areas. In addition to enhancing your landscape's looks. this will prevent your lawn from becomming smothered by leaves. If leaves are left on your lawn or planting beds, air, water and nutrients will have a harder time reaching the root system, and sunlight will be blocked as well. Plus, a layer of leaves on your lawn or beds serves as the perfect breeding ground for all sorts of harmful fungi and insects.

TIP 2:

LAWN DISEASE

Of all lawn-damaging pests, fungus diseases are some of the most difficult to tame. There are hundreds of diseases that can infect your turf. Some are relatively harmless, while others can destroy an entire lawn in a very short time. Fungus spores spread on the wheels of lawn mowers, on the shoes of children, on the droplets of water that bounce from plant to plant during rainfall or watering, or by wind. Every lawn has disease organisms. The trick is not letting them get the upper hand. To reduce disease, keep your lawn healthy and growing with proper feeding, mowing watering and thrach control measures.

TIP 3:

FERTILIZE YOUR LAWN

To keep your lawn green, growing and looking its best, a consistent program of fertilization is essential. Regular fertilizetion will lead to a thicker, healthier lawn that reduces erosion, filters pollutants, provides natural cooling and cleans the air. Plus your lawn will be less likely to suffer from weed, insect and disease problems when it's fertilized on a regular basis. And perhaps best of all, your lawn will need less water when it gets the nutrients it needs throughout the year.

TIP 4:

HARDSCAPING

Architechural additions referred to as hardscape can make open-air spaces come alive. Homeowners now have many unique and creative choices for enhancing their patios, lawns and gardens. A brick, paver or stone walkway, especially when replacing a too-narrow or treacherous sidewalk, can ass beauty and function. Outdoor lighting can make your house numbers easier to spot and extend parties past sundown. A gazebo or a fountain can be a lovely focal point. A feeding station to attract your favorite birds and other wild creatures can bring hours of pleasure.
